SNMP
Fault & Alarm
Reporting Enhances your Facility Control
May 13, 2004, 2004 - Redmond,
Washington, USA – Avitech
introduces the AviNETTM , a standards-based alarm reporting
system utilizing SNMP. This alarm capability is part of the
new Media Command Center (MCC), which will be showcased at
the upcoming InfoComm2004 trade show in Atlanta, Georgia, USA,
Booth #4347.
Management and control solutions are the keys to managing
the various elements and equipment within broadcast, surveillance
facilities, and other networked environments. The acquisition,
storage, routing, distribution and signal processing equipment
are often physically separated into two locations, with the
user interface in one location, and the components mounted
remotely in an equipment area. Because of this separation,
device monitoring has always been a challenge. And due to the
continued push for greater facility efficiency and more complex
operational situations, device monitoring is becoming a necessary
tool.
AviNETTM is a software-based subsystem that uses industry-standard
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). This faults & alarm
reporting subsystem provides system status information by sending
out SNMP traps such as; no video, no audio, audio out of range,
module failure and controller failure. When coupled with a
SNMP network management system such as NetCentralTM from Thomson
Grass Valley, it can become part of a very powerful alarm management
solution.
AviNETTM is not just limited to alarm reporting from Avitech
provided equipment. It can also be integrated with 3rd party
SNMP managers, which can set alarm messages to be displayed
as tickers directly on the Avitech virtual monitor wall systems,
such as the Media Command Center.
“A lot of the AviNETTM capability already existed in
forms of GPI triggers, therefore the development of AviNETTM
was a natural progression for us as we continue to move our
product roadmaps towards meeting the demands of the IT evolution.
Our customers can now select the SNMP manager that suites their
needs, and have the convenience of seeing any alarm messages
directly in front of them instead of searching for them on
a separate computer monitor,” states Thomas Tang, VP
Marketing & Sales.
