Skylife,
Korea employs Avitech's Media Command Center
March 12, 2005 - Redmond, Washington,
USA – Skylife,
the digital media leader, and the only digital satellite broadcasting
company in Korea has recently employed an Avitech Media Command
Center System.
Per KDB, “The Digital satellite broadcasting systems
is a new and advanced model of broadcasting and communication
in the 21st century, which enables us to enjoy hundreds of
channels anywhere in the country with high resolution and digital – quality
sound by transmitting programs on digital signals through the
geostationary orbit satellite.”
Skylife is using 8 ea. MCC-4dA for their new facility, which
performs the bypass of on-air terrestrial channels. The Media
Command Center (MCC) is a highly scalable and modular multi-image
display processor system designed for various applications
and Skylife is using this system as part of their overall monitoring
solution. By applying this integrated monitoring environment
to their existing facility, Skylife can now realize improvements
in their workflow. Benefits include; much greater viewing flexibility,
less power consumption, and economical multi display image
processing operations.
The MCC architecture offers distributed processing including;
independently powered modules, independently powered controller,
a CPU processor on each module, no single point of failure,
as well as being readily expandable for future facility expansion.
Each standard module has four video inputs, which can run as
standalone quad modules or can be cascaded to accommodate more
inputs to create a virtual monitor wall.
The Media Command Center is used to monitor a Grass Valley
Profile SAN as well as servers from Pinnacle Systems. Brad
Shin, Sales Director of Media PRO, Inc. commented that “the
superior image quality and open distributed architecture is
the key reason KDB chose Avitech. KDB was looking to expand
their existing monitor walls with 8” monitors, but the
flexibility and scalability of the Avitech Media Command Center
won them over. As the Korean media market is constantly growing,
KDB needed a system that could expand with their dynamic needs.”
